  3. Hello. I was born in 85 so I remember some of these. At least hearing about them. In particular I remember Madonna and as well I am familiar with Marilyn monroe. Those two ladies really made a big impression with their fashion statements. And in a way it really made their career.

    • Jake,

Thanks for joining the conversation! The 80s were a fun time for fashion, being born in 1973, I had the pleasure to experience the best and worst fashions of the 80s and wore a few of both lol.

I agree that both Madonna and Marilyn Monroe were very impressionable on the fashion scene and I also believe them to be two of the most popular sex symbols ever. Sure we have many beautiful women in Hollywood, but these two ladies paved the way for women and sexual expression through fashion.

When I think of sensual seduction, Marilyn is the first woman to pop into my head, and Madonna is right there with her.

  4. Hey Stacie,

What a cool trip down memory lane, I recall many of these moments, not all, but most.

Your article really highlights how iconic fashion moments by influential women have shaped cultural and societal trends, some of the ones you have mentioned were a little risque for their era, but certainly made an impression.

From Audrey Hepburn’s timeless little black dress to Lady Gaga’s avant-garde meat dress, these moments reflect the power of fashion as self-expression and its role in challenging norms.

We see fashion ever-evolving and certain trends that were popular 30, 40 years ago, coming back around, so I wonder how these iconic women’s fashion moments influence the current styles we see in contemporary fashion, if at all.

Thanks for this article, it was a great read.

    All the best

I am super thrilled that you enjoyed the article and thank you so much for joining the conversation.

These ladies made a huge impact on the fashion world, each in their own era, and on everyday fashions moving forward.

Most women have a little black dress in their wardrobe thanks to Audrey Hepburn, we may not have the cone bra that Madonna sported on her “Blond Ambition” tour in 1990, but I know I tried to dress like her with my holey jeans and crop-tops,  and mimicked her hairstyles.

I think it is safe to say that our fashion has been inspired and influenced by these great ladies and more.
